What makes INDIA so special to the world?India might be known to the people as the second most populous country in the world, or the biggest democratic country, or by the famous Taj Mahal which signifies symbol of love.
The question is what makes this country the favorite destination for the tourists and why it is called as Incredible India.? What makes India so special? Is it all about the economy? Being the 5th largest economy in the world with a GDP of 6.7 when the rest countries were suffering from recession or does it make a difference being the 4th largest army in the world?. or being the biggest market in the world which the West has been eying on.
Well the answer to this could he hidden in the deep roots of India in its values and customs its tradition which when seen through the eyes of Bollywood movies gives a soothing glimpse of it with varied colours and the foot taping songs and dance.
These question are well explained by Mr Sashi Tharoor at the global conference at TED India in mysore ,India.
He explains it as the ability of a country to attract others by its culture, religions, traditions, foreign policy etc. Which he calls it as “The Soft Power” this soft power Plays a driving force in attracting the world and making India stand uniquely on the world map.
But why India? There are several other countries like China, Japan and some Asian countries who are also rich in their cultural and tradition.
Well for India the biggest strength apart from the soft power is the power of one.. The diversity India has got, It has 23 regional official languages, which no other country has got, not only linguist diversity but geographical diversities as well.
India is the only country with desert (Rajastan) on the North west and mount Everest is the highest point on the earth just few kilometers towards the north. Towards the east at Cherapungi which receives the highest rainfall in the world. Coming down the hill towards the south brings the densest forest and wild animals with the rarest white tigers and Elephants. Towards the west lies the Goa the biggest party destination and also the Mumbai city that never give up and the backbone of the Indian economy. The country also has the biggest knowledge pool in the world with the highest number of engineers that a country can ever have. Bangalore also called as the sister city of silicon valley and the hub of call centre also the second biggest river in the world the Ganges which originates from the north and ends towards the east in bay of bengal.

But in some major part of the world, people are excited to know India more. People want to know the culture, the ancient science, the ayurveda the teachings of ancient gurus, the teaching of ancient yoga.
This is the best example of soft power that has set an example to the world
“What’s interesting is that China and India are now shaping their own image,” said Steve Noerper, associate professor of Asian Studies at American University in Washington D.C.
